Fire-Service-Exercise-06-03-2023
The WPR and DTG undertook a joint practice exercise with the Waipara and Amberley volunteer fire brigades & St Johns Ambulance.
The simulation was staged 2 km from Glenmark Station. A van waiting for an oncoming train was 'hit' from behind by a drunk driver and pushed onto tracks. The van was then hit by the train and tipped on its side with the occupant trapped inside. A chemical spill happened on the train that also had to be dealt with.
A very interesting exercise to be a part of.
It also shows what can be achieved in the community with volunteers. Approximately 40 people volunteered their Monday night for this valuable exercise.
